FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
New Online Teaching Practices Added to Open Repository
Orlando, Florida, US – Sep 15, 2016 – The editors of the Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository (TOPR) are pleased to announce the new entries accepted for publication from the Spring 2016 TOPR Call for Submissions. Entries were received from faculty and designers in multiple disciplines from various institutions throughout the US. The ten selected entries represent a diversity of approaches to designing online content, engagement activities, and assessments of learning.
TOPR is an open platform for online/blended faculty and instructional designers to connect, find inspiration, and collaboratively contribute innovative online teaching strategies. Each TOPR entry is licensed for remixing under a Creative Commons license to maximize adoption and adaptations. TOPR is open to the world at: https://topr.online.ucf.edu.
The selected entries published as a result of the spring 2016 call for submissions appear below (alphabetical by last name of first author):
- Stop and pause for engagement in online video lectures from Shannon Budin, SUNY Buffalo State Education
- Strengthening STEM laboratory assessment using learner portfolio and electronic assessment from Ronald DeMara, University of Central Florida
- Using Learner Created Videos for Student Engagement in a Flipped Classroom from Ronald DeMara, University of Central Florida
- Individualizing assignments in an online course from Amy Donley, University of Central Florida
- Increasing participation and engagement in student introduction posts through narrative from Joseph Fanfarelli, University of Central Florida
- Use student created discussion prompts for peer review from Roberta A. Fennessy, University of Central Florida
- Using student created blogs as a progressive formative assessment in an online STEM course from Kristen H. Kimball, University of Connecticut & Donnasue Graesser, Quinnipiac University
- Encourage authentic learning in online discussions through the use of photovoice from Beatriz Reyes-Foster & Aimee deNoyelles, University of Central Florida
- Student video presentation of homework from Paul Seeburger, Monroe Community College
- Use synchronous sessions to build community and connect globally from Patrice Torcivia Prusko, Cornell University & Lorette Pellettiere Calix SUNY Empire State College
