Dr. Travis N. Thurston is the Assistant Director of Empowering Teaching Excellence (ETE) at Utah State University. He also teaches as an adjunct professor for the ITLS & TEAL departments at USU, and is a visiting professor for Universidad Casa Grande in Ecuador. Travis holds a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from USU, and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology with a graduate certificate in Online Teaching from Boise State University.
Travis’ research interests include instructor presence in online teaching, designing autonomy-supportive learning environments, and microcredentials for professional learning. He has presented about his research at conferences including: OLC Innovate, POD Network (x2), InstructureCon (x3), and UPCEA (x2). Along with their four children, Travis and his wife Jenny spend their spare time raising awareness about Type I Diabetes, and fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
